Greetings,
Has anyone experienced what feels like an intermittent shudder or vibration felt around the helm while doing about 5-6 knots under power?
I have checked the cutlass bearing and zinc on the shaft and they are all secure.
It only seems to happen when we get the RPMs up to about 2000-2500.
It seems to come and go every 10 seconds or so.
we have hull # 2102, model year 2002.
Any similar experience or knowledge of this would be greatly appreciated.
thanks much,
Mike

Sounds like a typical harmonic vibration, happens when the vibration frequency gets other things vibrating at there natural frequency.
First step in curing this remove all harmonicas you my have aboard. Second, check shaft alignment and engine mounts. When all else fails, pick another RPM to cruise at.

I hear something similar. This happens when I turn and the direction of the current changes. I belive it is due to the play in the cutlass bearing. Relocating the 2 zincs on the shaft may cure this noise. The propeller itself may be worn and unbalanced.

Also check your coupling bolts, engine mounts and engine mount lag bolts.
