steering wheel, folding

Just purchased Lewmar folding wheel for my C36 Mk 1 and would like to hear any suggestions regarding adapting the autopilot ring to be able to attach to the spokes. Thanks, Bill J;)

Bill,

If I rememer correctly, there are 2 issues with the new wheel: 1. the wheel is dished and 2. the spokes are a larger diameter (and tapered).

Do you have a ST4000 autopilot? If so, contact Dan at
c250@mydurango.net He is a terrific resource for replacement and spare parts (and at great prices). I ordered 2 sizes of brackets...one size fit perfectly and I retuned the size that didn' fit. By the way, I didn't need to use shims.

Hope this helps.

Bill, If you have a st4000, first you have to get a round file and enlarge the brackets to fit the larger spokes. Second, go to your local ace hardware store and purchase some flat, 1/8 "thick by 5/8 dia fawcet washers and place two between each U bracket and where they screw in. I bet if you did a search for Lewmar folding wheel you would get the same answer.

Thanks for the helpful replies Jack and Stephen. I used the filing and faucet washer trick plus bought 1/4" longer bolts. Works great. I do have the ST4000 autopilot and found a couple of the brackets had small splits so I'm glad to get the info on where to order new ones.
