Plexiglass vs Lexan

Has anyone replaced the side plexiglass windows in a Catalina 36? We are in need of replacing due to tiny lines that now prevent clear viewing. I am sure it is due to age and sun. It appears each are secured by screws and caulk for sealing. I have been told that Lexan would be a good replacement. Can these be found already cut from a vendor who knows the exact measurements due to brand and model? If so what vendor should we contact?:)

kmetzler, it would help, I think, if you provided more of a signature...including your boat year and hull number. Might make a difference in what kind of replies you get. Go to the blue line at the top of this page, click on User CP, then Signature. It's easy to do, and from now on your boat particulars will be automatically appended to any posting you make.

Thanks.

I would stick with a good quality cast acrylic such as Cyro's Acrylite GP. Polycarbonate is more prone to scratching and UV depredation than cast acrylic. Most all hatch makers and manufacturers use cast acrylic. Bomar is the only one who ever used polycarbonate and then only in one series of hatch.
