Torqueing keel bolts

I've talked to Kent and Gerry about torque and a deep socket for my keel bolts and read the many mainsheet articles but haven't found out until this afternoon that the very front keel bolt in Spanki is only 5/8" dia. with a 1"nut and all the rest are 3/4" with a 1-1/8"nut. Is this normal and what is the torqu for the front keelbolt nut?

Russ, I believe that there was a thread on this very topic and it was recently I think. You might want to do a search on "keel bots".

Russ,

I consulted several online references for suggested torque values for 5/8-11 vs 3/4-10 steel bolts and found a ratio of 0.56. Applying 0.56 to Catalina's 105 lb-ft torque on the 3/4 inch keel bolt would imply a torque of 59 lb-ft for the 5/8 bolt.

That is better than no information at all, I suspect.
