We have Kricket V hull 78 -- an oldie but goodie. The tank that provided fuel to the stove/oven was rusty so we removed it. Now the question is... can we convert the system to propane? Has anyone done this. The stove/oven is a Regal Safgas.
Thanks. So far we are using our outside propane grill and an electric 2 burner when we are at dock.

Change Oven/Stove to Propane?
Kricket,
(you might want to update your "signature" so that we can address you by your first name?)
You should contact Seaward Products. They supply the stove units for all Catalinas and have for many years. What you have now is a CNG unit. Changing to propane will involve a sealed enclosure for the new LPG tank, regulator, wiring, new hoses, and new jets in the stove/oven, plus maybe more. Seaward can help you with all the details.

First thing we did when we got the boat was Toss the alchol stove.
Next thing I did was go to the seaward catalog and purchase the air tight propane locker. This comes with tank, regulator, and Solinoid switch.
Next I purchased the Triad propane electric shutoff / on switch.
I had a brand new shipmate 2 burner stove and oven.
Next I ran a new triad propane stove to the stove/oven. I will tell you the only regret I have ,and it is not that big is the locker I chose was a smaller one.
Not for the price issue but so it would fit in the port cockpit locker.
Next I installed a through hull off the stern below the elevation of the tank so that way if there is any leak of propane it vents off the stern.
Everything connected all fittings checked and sprayed. No Leaks !!!!!!
Last thing fire it up. Best thing I have insatalled so far,Now I only have a 2 gallon tank. Never once have I ever ran oout of Propane I dont understand why in other article people want to add 20 lb tanks to their boats.
The Boss is Italian and she is constanlly cookng NEVER NEVER once have we ran out of PROPANE . Oh and did I mention on top of that she is always baking something sweet for our skallywags.
Hope that helps,

Addressing your propane usage, Jeff, I am also amazed how long our propane lasts. We made sure our main and spare 10lb tanks were full when we left for a 100 day cruise last year. We cooked with propane most days and are still using that first tank.
