At the Boat Show there was a sale on Raritan Heads, with a Jabsco style base (direct replacement). Looking at the mounting platform it it had been drilled and re drilled and gotten wet over the years. So.. I am over drilling a tad and filling and epoxying the existing holes and re-drilling. My question is should I mount the head with the handle to flush on the right hand side (sitting or standing).

My suggestion.
Go to Walmart and buy a white plastic cutting board that you can cut to make a new top to your toilet base. Attach the new base cover with counter sunk SS screws and a good adhesive. Then mount your toilet on this new surface.

I had to make the decision on the Catalina 30 that I had. I chose to put the handle on the left while standing and facing the head. That puts it close to the bulkhead. My thought at the time was it was out of the way.

I’m partial to the right side facing the head. Seems more natural for us right handers. Your right on filling the holes with epoxy and redrilling.

Great points.. If it is next to the bulkhead the long raritan handle is out of the way. Also near the bulkhead accomodates boat rules (not mine but I have seen them) everyone sits. This allows for right handed flusing when seated. All preferences.. Have not made my choice yet.. Going to look at it today

I replaced our Jabsco with a Raritan PHC, (compact), and thrashed with the right or left. Decided on left, (sitting on bowl), and as the project proceeded I was very glad I did. I also replaced the outlet hose going to the tank. I used an “odorless” type of hose that’s quite stiff. If you use this type of hose, and elect to put the pump on the right, it may be near impossible make the bend out of the bulkhead behind the toilet to the pump. A stiff hose just won’t make the sharp bend. The Jabsco handle retracts anyway, which really helps.
If I had it do do over, I’d try the Raritan Saniflex hose. The one I used was a real bear to get on the toilet outlet!

Thanks. I'll probably do the same. The output hose was replaced with the Odorless prior to my purchase. I do have to replace my water input hose and am doing all hoses in the head at the same time.
