Raytheon ST50 sounder cycling up and down

I posted this issue on the Raymarine Forum with no solution offered yet.  The unit had been working fine until I decided to adjust the contrast.  I think I followed the instructions correctly as the contrast was fixed but immediately after, the unit went into a cycle mode of between 10ft and about 25ft and whether or not the transducer is connected.  I think this is a dealer mode but the manual has no instructions on how to activate or de-activate this mode.  Any advice, solutions?  thanks.

Is there a factory default setting which returns everything to original?

Gary. No reference in the manual on how to return settings to factory settings. I have tried calling Raymarine but the wait time on hold is beyond my endurance threshold. Will keep trying at different times of day.

My previous answer is not quite accurate. The manual indicates what the factory settings are but changing the individual settings to those values does not fix the problem. There is no instruction on what key or combination of keys to push to accomplish a system return to factory settings as is the case with other instruments.

Gary: I was able to view and print the pdf on my home laptop - thank you.  We are back at the boat on Friday.  I'll use the instructions provided and give you an update.  Strange that the set of instructions you sent me are not part of my ST50 manual.

Alsin,
When I bought the ST50 it was not Raytheon but Autohelm I have had the unit many years and it is sitting in my garage spare parts bin.I'm just offering as a help as it was the way to set the depth sounder.

No worries Gary.  Appreciate your help.  Will try it tomorrow.  I'm assuming I'll get a chance to try the fix.  We're bringing a 3yr old grandson and a 16 month old granddaughter out with us for a couple of days and they demand attention....maybe during nap time...if they nap.!?    Alain

Gary: the couple of days with the grandkids was successful and most enjoyable but the fix was not. Was worth a try.   I also finally got a response from Raymarine.  Their assessment is that it is a 'processor PCB' failure and can't be fixed so looks like I'll be shopping for a new sounder.  Am looking into an ST60 as it appears it may be compatible with the existing transducer. (looking for confirmation of this).  If yes, will connect for balance of summer and install new thruhull transducer at haulout this Fall.  BTW, my unit is Autohelm and not Raytheon....not sure where/how I came up with Raytheon???!)  thanks again for your help.  Alain

Alain,
I have the ST 50 instrument, cover, manual, etc. no transducer. These came off the Catalina 30 I owned. It still worked when removed. Any interest? Not sure what it would cost to ship, but it is yours for that price.

I have stuff to pick up in Ogdensburg NY so if you can send via ups to: UPS Store  attn: Alain Croteau 2981 Ford St Ogdensburg NY 13669 ph 315 393 1188 that would be grand and much appreciated.

Alain,
Try to ship it today looking for a box. I actually have transducer as well and when I got everything together, it dawned on me it came off my 36' Cat. I had the knot meter as well but that had an issue so I did not keep the KM. Also explains to me why the manual is in the condition it is. Anyway you should have it shortly.
