Anchor Locker Leaks Stopped

Hi, everyone.

In addition to the anchor locker leak I fixed in the little drain tube (in another post on this forum), I discovered another two leaks in the anchor locker which were dribbling water into the cabin (and my cushions) whenever it rained or whenever I took sea water over the bow.

Leak #1: Since this doesn't look like it's ever been take apart, a worker at Catalina (I assume) drilled a hole behind the metal propane tank holder (see pic) and then forgot to patch it. (Must have been a Friday 5:00)...so whenever water dribbled down the anchor locker channel in the rear (left rear in picture), it dribbled right down into that hole and thus into the cabin.

The thing that made it so hard to get at was that for some as yet unfathomable reason, Catalina decided to glue (with LOTS of tough glue) this black rubbery plate on the cabin side of the anchor locker, thus ensuring that no owner could ever easily re-bed the various bolts in the rear of the anchor locker. I spent about an hour sweating and prying it all off, so when I replaced it, I simply used Velcro, so that I can easily get it off again.

Leak #2: Down in the rear part of the floor of the anchor locker were these tiny little pinholes in the fiberglass. I think the same 5:00 guy who drilled that hole must have done this glassing and simply didn't add enough resin to cover the cloth and thus over the years the pinholes developed. A bit of "plumber's epoxy putty" from Home Depot ended that leak. Easy fix.

So 4 leaks fixed in the last few months (see other threads I posted for the other two) and I now have a totally dry bilge!
