Now that the Association has located the cutlass bearing tool and a new tool-miester, I'm planning my cutlass bearing replacement project next month.
Does anyone have recommendations concerning prop removal tools?
How about this gizmo - the "PRO-PULL 1-1/8" 3 & 4 BLADE PROP PULLER "
[url]www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResults/PartDetails/tabid/63/partid/08008007004... that goes for $80?
Other ideas? Suggestions for rentals in the NYC area?
(I tried searching the C36 archives on this subject, but found only some unfortunate experiences, but no tool recommendations).

In my opinion, having used many different pullers over the years, the Algonac is by far the best designed and easiest to use. Look around and you can find them for a decent price. Worth every penny they charge.

I researched this a while back and one thing I decided was not to spend a ton of money on an option I would use maybe once or twice. What I did find that worked for me was that the auto parts store by me allowed the rental of gear pullers for just $1!! You had to buy the puller and return it in the same day, for this they would refund the full price minus a dollar. One thing I found was I needed a puller with eight inches of clearance for the standard two blade prop on the 84 hull I have. I am pleased to say it worked like a charm and the $1 dollar cost was a big plus, hope this helps give you some ideas.

You can also rent a puller from any auto store. Either a two arm or three arm depending if you have a 2 blde or three blade. When I changed my prop last season, it took all of 10 minutes, if it gives you a little trouble, use a little heat to the bronze, not the SS shaft.
