Teak cabin top handrails

Last season,in a hurry to prep the boat,i put sikaflex on several of the screws that secure the grabrail from inside the boat. They were leaking.Does anyone know if this part of the cabinton/deck is solid or is just more plywood core?Since i simply stopped the leak from below(not wanting to remove the entire rail for rebedding)is water now simply penetrating the core instead of leaking thru to the inside?

I don't know if there's plywood or other core under there, but I wouldn't seal the leak from below. On one of my prior boats, I had a leak, the source of which drove me crazy. Once I found it, I could see that the water was traveling through the cabin top and coming out several yards away. Who knows what damage it might have been doing along the way.

On my prior C30, I had to reseal the teak handrail. I was working alone, so wanted to avoid having it spring out of it's curved shape, so I just backed off all the screws about a half inch or so, pried it up from on deck, then resealed with silicone. Tightened up the screws lightly to pull it back down, then let it set overnight before fully tightening. Never saw the leak again.
