Does anyone know where I could get a replacement tip for the genoa track? One of mine was a casualty of the two blizzards we had.
The tip I speak of is at the forward end of the track. It looks like a triangle shape as best I can describe it.

Laura,
I'm pretty sure this is what you are looking for. Most chandleries can order it if they don't have it in stock.

Laura,
Out of curiosity, do you have stops at both ends of the track?
I lost a car during a race several years ago and the car "flew" down the track and stopped at the aft cap. Without the aft cap/tip the car would have flogged about the deck. My tracks are open in front and tip/stopped aft.
Just curious.

Jack- to tell the truth I don't know if they are on both ends! It is not one of those parts you think about often.
I only noticed because I saw the fore end tip break off as I was clearing snow and Ice.
I will check and let you know, but the tip I lost was fore end starboard side. I am pretty sure there are tips at both ends, but can let you know.

I was just curious from your original post. After seeing first hand a car fail and shoot aft, there is definity a compelling argument to have them installed on the aft section to stop a run-away car from leaving the deck under load.
Sounds like you have them on both ends.

I took our aft stops off. I found it burdensome to have to remove and rebed them because I've been switching out jib fairleads regularly. I hear you about losing one like that, but I'd rather pop a sheet quickly than have to get into contortions to replace them every time I have to replace fairleads. I know it won't be too often in the future, but doing it twice already over thirteen years is two too many. We do have stops on the forward end, but you can't get a fairlead off there because of the way the fiberglass deck surrounds the tracks. This is for a C34 Mark I, 1986. I'm taking a risk, I know, just my choice.

I use those stops on my spinnaker pole mast track, but have removed them all from the tracks on deck, both on the toe rail and the genoa track. Too often I want to remove a piece from the track, and don't want to slide it all the way to the back end, which in the case of my guy blocks would mean removing the genoa car, the mainsheet car, and the spin sheet car.

I also accidently lost a car on the outer track. There were no stops. As a temporary fix I wrapped a piece of tape around the track by using the drainage notch in the toe rail near the aft end of the track.
