The varnish on the teak strip along the cabintop is in need of stripping & re-varnishing. Rather than tape about 40' of edge, I was thinking of taking it off, varnishing it on the dock and then replacing with nice new screws. What would you suggest as a caulk to put on the screws so as to assure a leak-proof screw hole? Also, if you've ever removed this strip, is it glued or just screwed. If it is the former, I would think I am the latter.

It's usually called the "eyebrow" and if you do a search here and on the old board you'll find lots of input, in fact there was a topic just last week about this very subject.

I too have used the Boat Life Caulk - works great! I'm sure it will look wonderful after you are done. I have completed the same thing my self on Carpe Diem.

It is nice to get a lot of options here in the web site. One just has to sort out what works for him and how handy he is. I have the same set up as you with the eyebrow. I usually remove it yearly to recoat it as well. What I do is use just the tiny screws with a dab of caulk where the screw goes into the cabin top. I am just careful not to strip that screw out. Been doing this now. I know eventually may and then will correct it then.
