When my mast was re-stepped recently they replaced the old wooden partnering wedges with plastic ones. Now it sounds like rapid small arms fire going off inside the cabin when the mast flexes. I don’t think I have ever heard this on any other boat before. Anybody know if these things will quiet down after they wear in for a while? If not can I pop them out and insert a thin layer of something between them and the partner to keep them from popping?

When my mast was replaced they put in wooden wedges and I had the same noise. It's NOT the change in wedges. YOU have to make the adjustments. Take off your mast boot, check their placement and security, and adjust the turnbuckle in the saloon to eliminate the noise. It's simply the noise of the deck flexing against the wedges and mast.
