I changed my prop from a 8" to a 9" pitch. Top speed at 3000 rpm is 5 knots.
Something is wrong. Just read article in "Repowering an I-36 - Islander 36 Association and they went for a 14" X 14" prop with speed at rpm 3000 of 6.9. I know it is a different boat but something is wrong. On a cruise now from Port Charlotte Fl to Key West. Not a happy camper. Does anybody know the size of the original propeller. HELP

My 1993 C36 has a 3jh2e which has similar hp to your 3jh5e. I bought the boat 3yrs ago and it came with a 15 x 10 - 3 blade Michigan prop which I believe was standard at the time but for a lower hp engine. I could easily reach hull speed at around 3200rpm. This winter, I had the prop re-pitched to 11" because I am of the opinion its under-pitched. I'm anxious to see how it performs this summer. BTW, nice, smooth (except at idle) and efficient engine (2.5 litres per hour avg at 2800rpm).

Having a new Chesapeake 15" X 14 pitch prop put on tomorrow also had prospeed done by Coastal Prop in Cape Coral. Wish me luck. Will partially sea trial tomorrow after short haul. Then will actually really test it from Marco to Shark river on Friday.
