Hi,
i need to rephrase my question, on a racor 500 fuel filter how do you know which is the input (fuel tank side) and the output. i either assembled the rebuilt fuel filter wrong or i'ver reversed input and outside sides of the filter. I thought i recalled something that showed which is the input side but when it is install i can't for the life of me see which is which. I looked everywhere i can think to look but no luck so far. anyone know of a link that shows which is which or does it matter?
i forgot to mention the reason i'm asking is cuz when i turn the ingition on i never get and fuel to come out of the bleeder bolt on the engine, so i figgering i did something wrong just don't know what yet and i didn't want to disassemble the filter unless i had to to check that i have the little washer positioned the correct way in the inside of the filter.....

Mike, if you turn the ignition switch On and there is no sound coming from the fuel lift pump, then no fuel is even trying to get through the filter. Have you verified that you have lift pump operation/pressure?

Have you googled for the racor instructions for that model? I think I found instructions for mine that way but it was a different model.

Yep the pump is working, when I go below I can hear it no problem, I'll try google it again maybe I'm just missing it. Plenty of info on how to put things together but nothing I could find showing which is the in port and which is the out. I'm thinking I don't have something correct cuz I never see the turbine moving

Reverse them and if it fixes the problem, you're done!

I did locate a diagram on the installation, make note to self use installation as keyword next time, and it sure looks like i have the connections reversed. i'm off today so i'll be heading to the boat a bit later to check it out...:D

If looking at the filter, head on, the inlet is on the right and outlet is on the left....

One of the things I took away from my college statistics course was that if you have a 50/50 change of getting it right, 9 times out of 10 you'll get it wrong.
