What's In the Box?

Hey Folks,

i searched and didn't find anything so hoping this isn't a repost.

Ive owned an '89 36 for a month now. Lots of fun so far and discovering new treasures every weekend. We finally hauled out all the stuff shoved into to aft cabin and were surprised how large it is!  However, mysteries were produced.

1.  There's a box made of teak about 18x18 and 3 inches thick attached to the ceiling of the cabin on the port side, as far towards stern as possible.  The only access is to remove a bunch of very small stainless screws. It has a padded cover over it presumably so you don't knock your legs on it, but that would take some work. Not sure if it's OEM or not.   Original?  Any ideas?  See attached pic upper right corner.

2.  The birth in the aft cabin. It takes a wooden board to make it full size connecting the settee in there with the rest of the birth. At this point it becomes huge. Which cushion is used to complete the bed?

Well I'll be... That answers question 1.

Anyone up for number 2?  All my cushions have been recovered and the 2 person dinette turned into a full time, single long cushion settee with the table removed.  So not sure which cushion to use for the aft birth.

As Nick said, try using the search function.  You'll find the answer to your second question here:
