In our 2005 36' MkII (Anniversary Edition) we found the 10" blanket shelf at the very forepeak to be more of a nuisance than useful.  We were always banging into with our feet and making up the V-berth with fitted sheets was a chore.  We chose to remove the shelf entirely and WOW!  What a difference.  Attached are before and after pictures.
