Transmission Fluid

What transmission fluid does the group recommend for our Hurth 100's?

I believe there is a tag on top of the transmission that tells you what you can use.

Yes. The manual recommends ATF Type A or Dextron II or III however you can't find these particular designations in auto part stores any more, guess they are obsolete. So I wind up buying what the store attendant recommends. I would rather use what this group recommends if they have one.

The licenses for all of the fluid grades specified by Hurth have expired.  Anyone can say their fluid is compatible because original license holder (GM) no longer regulates or enforces this.  I think that any name-brand fluid that says it conforms to Dexron III (but to a no later Dexron specification) is fine.  Redline D4 falls into this category.
