I'm replacing my NavPod to put in a Garmin 943 chart plotter. But I'd also like to keep my auto pilot & RAM mic connection. The problem I'm facing is that the old style Standard Horizon RAM mic cable has a plastic plate I cannot seem to detach from the metal connector plug inside so I can get the cable through the hole.
Does anyone know how to separate the plug from the plastic plate? Or is it all one molded or glued piece?

Thanks

On my 2003 the RAM mic is in the admiral’s panel. When I replaced the radio, I found cutting the cable and reconnecting it using a terminal board was the easiest way.

Thank you Bob. Looks like I will have to do the same, but somewhere inside the new NavPod. Any problems with radio interference? Thought the cable was shielded for that and thinking opening it up may cause an issue.

Tom,
I have been using it for several years now and yet to have any issues with it.
