Rigid Boom Vang

I released the topping lift on my (new to me) boat and the rigid boom vang did not hold the boom up. My expectation, from other boats, is that the rigid boom vang should hold the boom up and the vang pulls it down to tighten the leech, when needed.

My suspicion is that it needs a new spring or adjusting. Any thoughts?

Mine will hold up the boom. As a matter of fact, when the boat was new, (2000), the dealer removed one of the springs in the vang, as it was so strong it lifted the boom to a ridiculous angle.

Illusion,
Give a call to Garhauer. They made the vang and can help you.
