Hi, I am a new member, in the final stages of the purchase of a 1985 C36 #432. Among other things the exhaust needs looking after... I previously owned a C30 so am somewhat familiar with the system. I do not like the pipe elbow contraption that Catalina uses I think it can be improved. Westerbeke makes a cast riser that is much better, but then I came across this one from Moyer Marine... It is the ultimate simplicity, anyone tried one yet?

The tapered pipe threads on top of this fitting are 1-1/4", and the hose barb on the bottom is sized to accept 1-5/8" ID exhaust hose. The inlet fitting on the side is sized to accommodate 1/2" ID hose."

I'm interested coz I repaired mine last year. (See my post elsewhere on that.)
However, I don't really see how it works yet from your description and the picture. Seems like you would still need an "elbow" somewhere.

Our inlet water line to the nipple is 5/8", yours may be, too.

I am thinking that you could use this to inject the water after the manifold and use a side inlet (Vernalift) muffler. Then you can run exhaust hose to the muffler and may not have to insulate anything. Vernalift says muffler needs to be 2' away and the top 12" below exhaust. I think 1/2" would let enough water in, may have to make an adapter.
