I am replacing the bellows and taking the prop off to re pitch has any one taken the shaft out with out dropping the rudder or removing the cutlass bearing

I've taken out the shaft AFTER first removing the cutlass bearing -- that provided just enough extra side clearance to slide it out past the rudder. With the bearing in, however, there is no way the shaft could be removed on my boat (unless either the rudder or the engine/trans were removed first).
