Hi,
My blackwater tank has a blocked vent. It looks like the little bit not gauze is all blocked up. Getting to the vent hose looks like a real challenge, so I thought I would tackle the problem from the outside. But how do I remove the breather fitting?
I will get a photo next time I am down at the boat.
Thanks
Simon

Yes, getting to that hose is quite a challenge. I wanted to install an in-line filter and could barely follow the hose with my hand.
It turns out the vent fitting is behind the upper panel in the shelf storage unit in the shower. The cover panel is screwed to the wall, the shelf is just glued in position. The challenge is to remove all that in the limited space. I did manage to do it but putting everything back was almost impossible.
So, the vent is actually lower than the waste tank pick-up which is not ideal. There is no room to add an in-line filter behind the panel.
It seems to me if that vent fitting is suspected clogged, I would use a water hose and apply pressure from the outside the flush back the obstruction into the tank. I would use a large rubber hose clamped to a garden hose held tight against the hull might do.
Good luck.
