My x5 wheelpilot is so annoying..its little drive motor is constantly making small adjustments..way too sensitive...I have noticed that when the heeling angle changes a lot (close hauled or whenever the angle of heel is varying a lot) that the fluxgate compass seems to trying to correct course when in fact the boat is on course but just heeling more...i was thinking that mounting the fluxgate in a bronze lamp gimbal(i have one)might stop this annoying behavior..it couldnt be worse..any comments/ideas?

The compass is already gimbled inside no need to add gimbles. As you heel over more you are rounding up and the boat needs to make connections. There are sensitivity setting that you can change as well so it will not correct as often. Check the manual for the settings. The more you use it the more it will learn the boat and how it behaves. Also you can always do a full recalibration if there are major issues.
