Placement of depth/speed sensors?

I have a 1993 C-36 that me and my late husband bought in 2006. The speed and depth sensors were placed under the galley sink. Not sure who placed them there, previous owner or Catalina. Does Catalina place them there?
We took them out and fiber glassed over the holes and planned on re-installing them just forward of keel under the V-berth bed.
Is that the right place to re-install them?

Mine were installed by Catalina right under the bottom drawer in the V berth. They are right next to each other on each side of the boat's center line. If you pull out the drawer you have easy access to them. Hope this helps.

Under v-berth center drawer is exactly where I knew they should be. Just needed confirmation before I cut out holes.
Have no earthly idea why someone put them under galley sink aft of keel. You need to know the depth that you're coming up to. Not what you're already in. Of course we did ok with them there but didn't want to keep them there.
