I stripped one of my halyard winches to find a broken ratchet gear. It's a late 70's vintage 16ST, single speed, self tailing, with the solid black cast carp/stripper that comes off by rapping it with a mallet.
The part number of the gear is: 15016016
I am pretty sure of the number, from matching it up with a 70's service manual.
Any help is sincerely appreciated!
Thanks,
jv
Wow, sure is quiet over here!
Don't want to state what seems obvious but have you checked with lewmar? I seem to remember that they had some type of chart that cross referenced the various part. Trying here may be at least a place to start https://www.lewmar.com/product-listing.asp?action=search&type=8
Good luck

Thanks, I am in contact with Lewmar. They have a helpful but somewhat blasé attitude towards my issue, since it's an old winch. I've asked for drawings of a gear that seems to be available that looks like it's equivalent, he's trying to get them. Meanwhile he sent me scans of the service manuals. I should say he's been very nice.

Thanks. That's not the same part number gear, and it looks in this illustration different than what I have; but in other illustrations it looks just like the one I have.
I was told mine, 15016016 was upgraded to 15000098. This one is 15000464.
I've asked Lewmar about this gear and he said he'd get back to me if he could find anything out.
PYacht wants about $36 for it, I've seen it as low as $26. I might just buy one on the chance it will work.
Thanks,
