Opening in mast for halyard?

I have my mast down and noticed a feedthru for a  halyard several feet down from the mast head but way above spreaders.
i am rigged for spinnaker and have an external pulley attaced to a bail on the masthead

I dont have a spinnaker halyard installed i assume the ffedthru would be to allow halyard to go inside mast.  It seems obvious but it is quite a ways down from the masthead. Does this sound right?

I also have an empty sheave in the masthead i guess for a spare jib halyard?

This is exactly how our 2002 is set up.   The exit/entry slot is down from the masthead allowing the spinnaker halyard to move around, minimizing chafe.  So, yes on the spin halyard and the masthead jib halyard.
Like you we currently have only one jib halyard and have installed a messinger line in case we'd like to run the 2nd halyard.     I like the idea of the second halyard but we don't have the deck hardware to support it.
