Mainsheet Clam Cleat

Has anyone tried Schaefer's 70-38 or 70-39 cam cleats to replace Catalina's miserable clam cleat for the mainsheet?
They are rated for 5/8" line, 500 lb safe working load and mounted with #10 machine screws.
I nearly always singlehand, never race and rarely take the mainsheet to the winch. Usually luffing up a bit is enough to tension the main and get the desired shape.
Am a little concerned about the 500 lb safe working load during an accidental jibe in heavy air, nor do I know how much stain the winch puts on the mainsheet going to weather.
If someone has been down this road before, I'd enjoy knowing how it worked.
Also curious if anyone has an opinion on if the wire bail on the 70-38 is a better choice than the 70-39's fairlead over the cams.
Thanks
