A litle more on wiring condition

For the past couple of weeks I have noticed a difference in the reading of the volt meter at the helm panel and at the main breaker panel. I decided this was indicative of either corrosion or a bad meter.... Guess what I found at the connection nearest the engine. Have a look at the 2 pictures. No more connector... An hour and half later problem resolved, wires are now spliced.
At least I discovered this at the dock, tools in hand.
So what is the next surprise .....

Glad you found it, we've been "preaching" about it for years

Ross,
I'm glad you didn't have a more serious problem than differing voltage readings. That's EXACTLY why both the C36 and C34 Associations have been warning owners about this potential fire hazzard for many, many years!!!

Just an update: After replacing the lower connection I noticed over the last week or so the Tach was working and then not working..... After checking the connections I wiggled the top connector that seemed to look perfectly good. Sure enough the other connector was bad. For the upper connection I replaced it with a Terminal strip so that removal of the instrument cluster would be easier in the future. You (I at least I) can sit some what comfortably in the port locker and make all of the connections. :)
