Inverter/charger?

This is more for future planning; not intending on doing this yet.

The current setup is house bank + starter battery, and there's a phase 3 charger already on board.  The previous owner had attached a 400W inverter near the battery bank, but I prefer a cleaner installation, and one that powers the AC outlets that are already on board.  They are there, so why not use them?

The trick is to wire it up nicely.  My current plan is to replace the existing phase3 charger with a victron multiplus 2000W inverter/charger.  Looks like (at first glance) that it will take up the same amount of room, and since there's already DC wiring going to the existing charger then some of those tasks should be easier.

The trick is the AC wiring.  Looks like the existing charger AC line will need to be replaced, as I don't think it was sized for the whole 30A capacity of the AC bus.  Since I only want to power the outlets off the inverter (nothing else), I will probably re-route the outlet circuit's input to the inverter (it has a pass-through if it detects shore power).

Other than installing a hard DC disconnect and appropriate high-amperage fuse on the AC line, are there any things that I'm missing, and does this make sense?  Or am I thinking too big and should just add an inverter rather than replacing the whole setup?  I do appreciate the ability for the victron to connect to data networks so I can keep tabs on it when I'm not on the boat.

Hi Kevin,

I have an inverter/charger and I like it.  We anchor often and it does well with short term usage:  Making coffee, toast, charging some things that require AC input.  We don't have it the hot water system connected to it, that 's a very bad idea as it will deplete the batteries very quickly.

Our inverter/charter is a 2000W/100A unit made by Magnum.  I have enclosed the wiring diagrams and information.

Good Luck,

Hello all,
I'm planning to replace the existing Inverter/Charger (control panel seems to lock up ever so often) with Victron 3000W Inverter/Charger with Cerbo GX and Display.  Any caution, tips, or suggestions?
BTW, I already replace the 2 8D AGM house batteries and the starter batteries with LiFePO4 batteries.  The 2 house batteries was an easy replacement since the CHINS 200 Ah batteries (Amazon) fitted in like a glove (with old battery trays removed). The starter battery is also 200 Ah LiFePO4 but DIY Calb battery.  So far the charge profile for the old AGM batteries seem OK with the new LiFePO4. Although the LiFePO4 are not fully charged with the AGM settings but LiFePO4 are happy not fully topped off.
