Turned on the key in my 2002 Mk II and my instruments didn't come on and the low oil pressure light lite up... but... the engine started.
I checked the oil (it was OK) and after switching the engine key a couple of times, the instruments came on. They were fine for a few days and then it happened again, but it took only one "on-off" flick and they came back. Been fine for a month since.
It seems something must be wrong in and around the ignition switch.
Before I open the panel, any suggestions on what to look for?

My guess is the ignition switch itself. They have a limited life. I rebuilt my panel with all new components (except piezo) this spring. Works great now
