This is the shelf that sits directly behind the engine compartment. I have removed 5 screws that are across the width of the shelf behind the wood dowels, and 2 smaller screws on the right side top, by the opening to the main cabin. I have also removed the 2 screws holding a plumbing "U" behind the engine. Any help would be appreciated.

I think the set=up has changed over the model years, and on later models Catalina made it easier to access.
On our 1985, I have reconfigured it on our boat to make it easier to remove (all the screwws are now accessible from the outside), so I can't recall exactly how I did it the first time. However, I seem to remember that I had to remove the bulkhead that seperates the galley from the aft cabin to get at all the screws, as they were internal at that point.

That shelf is held down in our boat (2005) by two rubber snap clips: the same ones used to secure the engine cover on the other side of the cabin bulkhead.
