Hello,
I finally had a chance to do some maintenance today.
Did a complete oil change/new oil filter (after 80 hrs).
Changed the belt to new.
Changed the raw water impeller to new (was 2 years old, still looked great).
Got to the heat exchanger. Changed the pencil anode. The old one was almost gone (!). New one fit in great.
I have new end caps and gaskets for the heat exchanger, but held off pending advice from you experts.
Q: What is the best way to clean the inside passages? It seems like a challenge to get a poker or long brush inside the tubes because the side entrances have limited access (Universal 35). Any advice?
Btw, the engine runs cool enough, maybe I don't need to do anything.

Sounds like your all set. Sometimes just takeing the ends off you can some of the anode (zinc) should it have crumbled. A wire through each tube to make sure there is no obstruction. Best way to clean the HE is to take it to a radiator shop and have them service it. Only need to do that if you are experiencing a problem.

The best way to service the HX is to completely remove it from the engine.
