I have a 1993 Mk 1.5, hull 1237. My fuel tank (the original) developed a slow leak. I pumped it out, cleaned the bilge and uninstalled the old tank. I am getting ready to install the new tank I purchased from Catalina Direct. My recollection is that the old tank was level with respect to the boat, i.e if the boat is level the tank is level. Can anyone confirm that?

I believe that is correct. I replaced mine many years ago. I also believe I received a new platform which was the same as what originally came with the boat. Nothing was wrong with my original platform so I just installed the tank using original platform. I also coated the bottom of the tank with about 3" up the side with an automotive undercoat.

Thanks Gary. Unfortunately I have had to rebuild the platform because it was soaked with diesel in a couple areas. We just dry fit the new platform today and I am happy to say that the tank sits very level with the galley countertop. The auto undercoat was a good idea.
As an aside, when I pulled out the tank I had to pull the hot water heater first. It was dated 2002, so I figured no way am I re-installing this. So, I trashed it with the fuel tank. Then reality hit. I could not find a replacement Seaward tank anywhere. Backordered everywhere. I was about to go to an alternative knock-off when by luck I found that Overtons actually had one of the Seaward tanks. Just one. I got it. :-) Supply chain problems strike again.

Believe that "Kuuma" water heaters are a replacement. Also "Whale" purchased the Seward line. "Isotemp" has my attention for the next water heater.
