Fuel pumps

My engine has net to 1800 hours.

should I carry a fuel pump as a spare on board?  I do coastal cruising.

It is cheap insurance but my engine ran fine without the pump operational. Realized it was bad only after the engine cover was removed to do an inspection. Not sure how long it had been out prior to that. Could have been since the last filter change. The tank is mounted higher than engine though

I carried an extra for years and it sure was great to have it when need on an extended cruise. Cheap insurance.
