Emergency Tiller

Hi all,

I am wondering about how others use the emergency tiller. On my 1984 C36 the top of the rudder post has a horizontal slot for the handle, which is about 10 inches long. It can't be longer because it would hit the binnacle. Does anyone use a big extension to get it above the steering wheel and then extend further forward for more leverage? If not, how do you use your emergency tiller?

Thanks

Nick

Thats one reason i installed a below deck autohelm to maintain steering even if cables broke. That little tiller is a joke.
