I would like to throw some Kudos to the CPT Auto Pilot. The ordering process made for an exact fit to install. Initial hook up took about an hour. When sea trials are done ( still need to fly the spinaker) I will spend a little more time to shorten the supplied wiring to tidy the installation. The performance is strong and predictable. The CPT is as fast as the old hydraulic B&G unit under the deck. So far I'm glad I did'nt break the bank to replace the under deck pilot. Hand steering no more!

This is good news Mark...i wish i had gone with the cpt pilot instead of the raymarine with its tiny(and noisy)drive motor.(the underdeck models too much$) The cpt looks beefy and offshore capable..total cost, noise level, battery drain and any other comments appreciated, cheers,Greig

If you don't care to interface (and I don't), you may want to consider other brands. One is CPT. I've visited their "factory" in Aptos and spent some time with their folks. www.cptautopilot.com(link is external) Sturdy, well documented, simple. On my "next big boat purchase" list.
It's also a course following, not a course seeking unit (as noted in their very good literature). This means that you set your course manually, then engage the pilot, rather than dialing in a magnetic course and having the pilot find it. Just a tad different than what most folks are used to doing with their RMs.
They do provide a wired remote which allows minor course variations.
Nice, robust material.

Has anyone installed a CPT Autopilot on a mk2?
I was wondering asbout clearance around the engine instrument panel?
Wilf
Call and ask the CPT guys. Their instruction manual covers a lot of things, your issue included. Give them a ring AFTER you do some measurements.
