Bilge hose thru-hull

Hi --

I'm going to be adding a dedicated thru-hull at the aft starboard side for a second bilge pump. Is it necessary to drill this out at a larger size, fill in with resin, and then drill out at the size of the through hull?

Catalina hulls are solid fibreglass so no need to do that. I'm assuming you are suggesting this process to block off core material from water intrusion? Decks are a different story.
