I am in the process of researching refrigeration replacement units. I have decided on the coolmatic cu-85 condensing unit from Defender. For the box, am considering the VD-15 air circulating evaporating unit and am wondering if anyone is using this unit and would appreciate their assessment of its efficiency. Also, would appreciate comments from anyone who has researched it and has comments to share. My reason for considering this unit is that it appears many boaters have installed independent low voltage circulating fans in their boxes and commented on improved efficiency. The VD-15 unit would accomplish the cooling and air circulating processes. I attempted to talk to a Dometic tech guy but have not received a return call.

I have been researching fridge/freezer solutions. I like this combination. It seems less expensive than some I have looked at. My main concern is you cant put an ice cube tray in the evaporator. I like that it has the fan built in.
I can't decide what to do for a fridge/freezer. I like the portable units with built in compressor, basically looks like a cooler but you can use for a freezer or fridge. If I decide to cool my ice box I will add insulation to the inside and reduce the volume, maybe have a freezer section and fridge. Good luck let us know what you end up with and if you like it.

I went for an Isotherm Classic Cooling system. Cost $950 from defender.com. Very compact unit using the Danforth 50 compressor. I am just about finished with the installation. Biggest part of the job was adding insulation to the inside of the ice box to lessen the work load for the compressor unit. I have an evaporator unit with this setup.
