1K Ohm Resistor

This issue has been addressed on and off over the years, but after reading all the posts, I have a simple question. If the little inline 1K Ohm Resistor (that is in the wiring bundle that connects the alarm and the lift pump) is broken or disconnected, what happens?

I'm assuming that the low oil pressure alarm will not work. What I'm wondering about, is will the fuel lift pump start working when the engine is started? Or is it permanently disconnected.

I've been futzing around with this issue for years, intermittently getting loss of power, seemingly when tank is not full.

Yes, I've replaced the OPS

What I'm really wanting to know, is a simple, will the lift pump get current when the OPS is operating correctly and the engine is running, but the resistor is compromised?

Thanks

Al, the resistor is in series with the soanalert to reduce its loudness and serves no other reason. If it breaks and you turn on the ignition key you will not hear the beep sound that you expect and if your oil pressure was low for some reason you will not hear the beep sound. It is easy to replace and not worry to damage the engine.
