According to Gerry Douglas, the first MkII was hull #1368, in 1994. Since inception there have always been incremental changes to the C36 (and all other Catalinas, for that matter). In 1990 or 1991 the walk-thru transom was offered as an option, and it often referred to as the Mk1.5. Hope this helps.
To compliment what Tom Soko said, hull #1368 was the first MKII and hull #1040 had the first walk through transom, at least according to the attached drawing of the diffrent rudder types.
