1988 Mk 1 refridgerator replacement

Ours is dead, I had the compressor 'repaired' in Mexico, it lasted about 36 hours and died again.  Any recommendations for a replacement?  Ours is port of the galley sink, I believe it is an Engel brand that they no longer make...

I have posted this a bit recently, but 2 years ago I replaced my adler barbour with a novakool 201 LT4 version.  It comes pre-charged and is a pretty easy install and replacement for the original units.  Its also pretty efficient on power and will freeze everything if you turn it up past halfway.

Great thanks.  Is it a top loader I assume?  Will it be a drop in replacement?  Thanks

It turns the current built in cooler or fridge into a refrigerator by putting a compressor out in the port cockpit locker and running two lines to the small freezer compartment that mounts in the cooler.  You also mount a thermostat unit it the cooler and run the wire to the compressor unit, usually through the same holes as the refrigerant lines.  As you already had a refrigerator and compressor unit in there, it should be a basic replacement.  I did have to increase the size of the holes for the refrigerant lines but then I sealed them with expanding waterproof foam after it was all done and working.
