What size snap ring is on the shaft that drives the raw water pump?
I removed my old oberdorfer to install a new N202M-908 and saw a snap ring hanging. So I reached in to see what it was doing in there and noticed too late it was broken. And it dropped inside the engine right under the shaft.
It seems to have been broken for a while so I think the smaller piece isn't going to be an issue. The remaining snap ring I working on trying to get out with a magnet or something.

The snap ring is not needed.
to remove the broken piece, remove the pump from the engine and push the shaft out, you will find it.
It is unlikely that the small piece has gone inside the engine since it will have to go by 2 seals that are water tight. Inspect the shaft, if it is scratched you can order a new shaft from the dealer.
I have extensive content on my website on Oberdorfer. I have located seals for them for $12.00 each from Granger. I have 25 hours on them currently with no leaks. They can be removed and inserted by fingers, no special tools are needed.
