SeaFurl 5 Line replacement

Our C-36 has a Hood SeaFurl 5 roller furler for the jib and I like to replace the roller furler line. Can anyone give me a few hints on how to take the unit apart without damaging it. I can't seem to find instructions anywhere and any help would be appriciated. Thanks and fair winds in 2026 .

I'm not familiar, but a quick Google search for videos revealed several.  This link is for an 810, but maybe its similar or a search will show you one like yours?  There was also a manual that showed up and maybe it can help.

After searching the internet for instructions on how to replace the line in our Hood SeaFurl 5 and finding none, we decided to venture forth on our own. It turns out to be far simpler task than originally thought. Here's what you will need to complete the job. We used braided line 5/16 line at least 55 feet long. Prepare this line by removing the core from the first 25 feet of line. This is done in order that a portion of the new line lays flat on the drum. Next you will need SAE Allen wrenches and a Philips head screw driver. Only four Allen screws and two Philips head screws hold the drum together. Next let's get the drum off. I spread a towel on the deck so if I dropped a screw, it didn't go over board.
Getting the drum off to expose the winder wheel:
There are a number of Allen screws on the bottom of the drum. Only remove the two screws that are parallel to the deck.   They will face in opposite directions. The vertically mounted screws can be left alone.  The horizontally mounted screws need not be removed all the way, just far enough to release the clamp.
Next remove the two Phillips screws on the top of the drum and pull off the drum cover to expose the winder wheel. The winder wheel is held together with two horizontally mounted (parallel to the deck) allen head screws that hold it on to the shaft. Remove those and pull off the winder wheel. After clearing off the old line, thread the new line through the drum using the flattened out portion of the line. Tie a simple over hand knot to secure the line on the inside of winding wheel and insure the knot lies flat within the drum. Reassemble the winding wheel and place five turns of line around the wheel. Reassemble and reposition the cover and you are done. Spray a little lubrication  on the bearings while you're at it.
