Tach

Can anyone recommend a tach replacement for my original tach (1996). Thanks.

Just a suggestion if you haven't tried:
If your tach is malfunctioning, try rotating back and forth the slotted plastic disc on the back. The disc is a variable potentiometer used adjust the RPM reading. Over time internal corrosion sets in but often be cleaned up by rotating the disc with a screwdriver. This has worked for me on two boats.

Thanks for the response, done all the adjustments but tach is not working.   Catalina Direct says tach is not available. Wondering if there is another source.

Hi Roger,

I have Universal M25-XPB engine.  It is a replacement engine.  At the time I changed out my old control panel to Universal's Admiral panel.  According to my parts manual, the tach is part #036590.  I checked the number on the Universal/Westerbeke website.  The price is $139.50.  The picture does not show an engine hour meter in the tack.  You should call Westerbeke and clarify that and get dimensions.

Hope this helps.
