Changing props - have a flexofold but the pitch is off, any wiggle room?

I have a question that is pretty straightforward forward though I am sure the answer may not be (or maybe I am wrong and it is).

I moved up from a C34 mk  last year to a C36 mkII last summer and going through the old gear I found a prop that I that was pulled off the C34 (Universal M25XP - sorry I don't remember the transmission info).  We have the new C36 on the hard doing some work and there is a 3 blade 15R9 prop on the boat that is in good shape but when I looked at tech articles it seems that the 2 blade flexofold would perform better and we are hoping to do more extensive cruising so that is appealing. The issue at hand is that the prop is 15R12 and that is beyond the 15R10 recommendation on this site for a two-blade prop.  So the question is that a hard and fast rule?  I am OK and will list the prop for sale if it is not usable but I don't want to be foolish if it is and I sell it.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi,

We sail a C36 MKI, engine Universal M35, gearbox Z10 reduction 2:1 and a two blades Flex-O-fold 15*11. Hope it helps.

That is helpful, I need to confirm my gearbox and reduction ratio but this gives me some hope that the prop might work. I hate dropping money if I don't have too.
