Homeade Wiring Diagrams....

Hi, has anyone chased wires and figured out how their boat is wired and drawn out a basic wiring diagram?  I'm trying to do this and it's been frustrating.  Mainly because when I'm working on the boat, i'm usually alone, and chasing wires seems to need a partner (as I wiggle wires and see where they go).

If anyone has created a diagram, I would love love to see it.   Would you mind posting it?

Mike, there's a full boat schematic in the manual.  Download the Mk II version of the manual from this forum, print out that page and add any new gizmo's you or the PO have installed.

I'll attach some detailed schematics that come up from a quick Google search, but they might not be accurate for your year.

Mie was majorly rewired by the PO, who wasn't as skilled as he thought he was.  My wiring is pretty much a mess.   It would take a real electrical engineer to map mine out I think.

Mike, in researching battery issues I saw a note from Leslie or Mathew (?) that suggested searching Amazon for a 'tone tracer'.  See screen shot attached.  Sounds like you need one given your issues.  Attach it to one end of the wire and it provides a tone on the handheld tracer that follows the wire even through fiberglass up to a couple of feet away.  Along with the print-out of the original wiring you should be able to create a new schematic.

Yup I’m an advocate of tone & probes, and have several. They work great for finding the wire route, or just finding out what all a breaker powers.

Great suggestions guys. I think a toner/beeper is a great suggestion. I have the manual. My current set up is pretty different from how it came out of the factory. It goes on the hard next week, I'll be pulling it all apart thus winter.

Thanks again!

Mike
