In mast furling

We purchased a new to us 2004 Catalina 36 mk II this last fall and the boat has inmast main furling that I understand was an option at the time of purchase by the original purchaser.

I am trying to find out the manufacturer and model number of the in mast furling that would have been fitted as I am trying to gather as much technical information related to our boat for maintenance purposes.

Any information would be most appreciated.

Type into the web site search box "Charleston Spar Furling Mast" and you wll see some brochures and other technical information. Those of us that have this option think very highly of it.

Thank you very much for this information, most appreciated.

I have another question that I hope you can help me with, where on the boat or elsewhere can you find out what the boat's hull number is that people on this forum seem to identify?

The 5th thru 8th digits of the hull serial number are the hull number.

I have a 2002 model and it has the Charleston Spar but I believe there is another well known brand out there that some boats have, the name of which escapes me at the moment. I think Catalina did not use the same suppliers for the same parts on different boats.

The name of the manufacturer should be on the mast or boom somewhere. In any case, call Charleston and they will be able to tell you what it is if you send them a picture. They are very helpful

Our C36 has the ID number on the starboard hull side, all the way aft  near the end of the rub rail. It looks like it was etched by hand with a dremmel/router bit. One would think for a $100K+ boat, Catalina would use an insert in the hull mold a with nice uniform font for a more professional looking ID for their boats.

Also- if your mainsail is original, the hull number will likely be on that.
