I put in a single lever faucet for the sink and went wit a seperate mixer valve and shower head to make a much better shower. There are some articles on the forum about this

Mine is functional but drips. Whenever I've considered replacement, I get intimidated by the very difficult access, under the counter and behind the bowl. Then I find something else to work on instead. Is it as difficult as I imagine?

It was very easy but I do have a Mk1 but I think yours should be close

I just changed mine, shower hose and taps, catalina direct was out of stock, so i bought it from amazon 
it was cheap but it works great. it took about 3 beers to change it, could have done it in one beer but why?
