Transom board

Hi,

I have a C36 Mk II.  While the step thru transom is very nice it does let waves into the cockpit in a following sea.  The transom gap has slots on either side that appear to be for a board to be dropped in to block the gap.  I've searched widely but cannot seem to find any reference to a board to drop into the slots.

Does anyone have any idea if such a board originally came with the C36 and if one can be purchased somewhere?

Thanks
Jeremy

Jeremy,
I have a Ml with the walk trough and it is a piece of acrylic tinted on my boat that fits in the slot. It has a teak trim board across the top , teak as well for the sides, and is 1-2" off the cockpit floor for drainage. Basically it would keep items from going out of the cockpit. I never have had any issue with a following sea entering.

Gary,
Thanks for the info - sounds just what I need.  Did this come with your yacht or did you have it custom made?
Thanks
Jeremy

I have the same filler piece that Gary described. It came with the boat and the PO called it a "poodle catcher".

Gary and Steve - thanks for the info.  Based on this info I contacted Catalina Yachts and they can supply it - they call it a "doggie catcher" and it costs $85.00.  Last time I sailed out the Golden Gate I did get my feet wet with following seas and so hoping this will keep (some) water out rather than a dog in!

Here is a picture of the "Doggie Catcher, it would seem to me you could purchase a piece of Plexiglas for a lot less than $85 plus the cost of a board and screws for the top you already have the sides.

It's also good for blocking exhaust from coming into your cockpit at certain wind angles.
